We stopped here on a whim, knowing nothing about the restaurant, and although we've had Jamaican cuisine before, we are by no means connoisseurs. That said, we got our food for takeout; there is one picnic table inside. We liked the jerk flavoring on the wings, and I renewed my impression that I really do like goat meat curry! The rice and peas were flavorful, even as leftovers the next day. The goat curry was supposed to come with "festivals"; I asked what that was, never got a clear answer, and got cabbage instead. We were disappointed in the plantains, which were rubbery and came in a paper bag which both sopped up some of the coating and added to the poor texture. I read in other reviews here that oxtails are expensive (which I know from shopping for bones at the supermarket) and that some patrons have been disappointed by the low volume for the price here. I have no similar frame of reference for goat. The meal came with two large bones which seemed pretty meaty, and was enough for me, but I might have expected more for the price in this dish as well. Someone with a better sense of goat cuisine economics will have to weigh in. The tenderness and flavor were there, however, and that would bring me back.

Well, my melatonin disability was quite obvious, but nobody gave me a hard time about it! I've always wanted to try Jerk Chicken. I got to try just that. I chose medium spicy and it was a very nice 2-alarm fire, pleasing and not enough to send me to the ER at all! Wow that was super spicy and I loved it really flavorful. I will definitely go back when I'm in the neighborhood. The owner was super nice very kind and I really wanna try the stews next.

Wow! This food was so delicious! I used to think Jamaican rice was not as flavorful, but I stand corrected! I grew up with Haitian rice so I can be picky. I will definitely be ordering food from Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine again!
